If there wasn’t already enough development activity in downtown Des Moines, construction of the much anticipated Iowa Events Convention Center Hotel is officially underway. This 330 room hotel will be operated by Hilton Hotels and connect to the Iowa Events Center which includes Hy-Vee Hall, Wells Fargo Arena, and the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center. This keystone project is scheduled to open in 2018 and is expected to draw large events like last year’s hosting of the first two rounds of the NCAA Division 1 basketball tournament.
