West Des Moines is having a record breaking year with over an estimated $527 million in building permits issued within the first five months of 2016.  West Des Moines has already surpassed the $490 million issued before the real estate bubble burst in 2008 and is set to pass last year’s record of $666 million. Large parts of this year’s record numbers are coming from Phase 3 of the Microsoft Data Center, which is projected at $320 million, and the renovation of the current data center at $110 million.  This project alone is expected to add nearly $9.4 Million to West Des Moines property taxes.  All of this growth isn’t expected to slow down anytime soon either with the outlook for 2017 looking bright.  Read more about West Des Moines and the metro here.
